I am also a certified member of ITA, the Institute of Transactional Analysis. This is a UK-based organisation, existing as part of a wider european body, EATA - which governs Transactional Analysis in Europe.

I am a member of the Metanoia Institute, a psychotherapy and counselling training centre. They have an ethical code which is available to the public on request.

I abide by these codes of practice as a member of UKCP, ITA, and Metanoia.

It's so important to choose a responsible, well-trained counsellor/therapist.

I personally would AVOID choosing a therapist who wasn't clear about their ethics, their qualifications, or that I simply didn't trust. I wouldn't want you to do that, either. So, even if you don't decide to go into therapy or counselling right now, please remember to look for ethical and professional therapists.

A good start is to

  • Check their Qualifications
  • Check their membership of professional organisations
  • Don't be afraid to ASK QUESTIONS. A good therapist will be happy to answer them. If they're not, look elsewhere!
